P is for PROTOPLASMIC OOZE. #alphabeasts I stretched the confines of Alphabeasts this week to illustrate the end scene of the amazing film ALTERED STATES. I don’t think anyone in the film ever refers to William Hurt’s character as “protoplasmic ooze” but he’s clearly degenerating into some base form of evolution that hideously oozes away from his structure. In the final scenes, his transformation affects Blair Brown too, so they’re both reaching down this simple hallway to one another as plasmatic beings desperately attempting to regain control of their humanity.
