V is for VASHTA NERADA. #alphabeasts
I’m on the road at SXSW, so I had to whip up this week’s alphabeast in between panels on my iPad using Sketchbook Pro. On Doctor Who, Vashta Nerada are microscopic creatures that live in the shadows, devouring anything in seconds. They’re the featured monsters in one of my favorite episodes “Silence in the Library.”
With my limited time and resources I chose to go black and white with this one, concentrating on the negative space between the shadows. I like how the one point perspective lettering took on a black metal logo feel as I cast the letterforms as reaching shadows.
