Z is for ZAZU. #alphabeasts

This is it. The last of the Alphabeasts! I’ve been dying to do something from James Stokoe’s ORC STAIN universe for this project. So for my final contribution I present the “Zazu,” a furry, shapeshifting creature worn on the head of the Poison Thrower character Bowie. It’s implied that there is more than one Zazu, so I think it qualifies for Alphbeast inclusion. 

I’m very satisfied with how this piece turned out. The pencils came together easily and I tried to ink with hyper detail like Stokoe himself. This is one of the few Alphabeasts I’ve colored, mainly because Stokoe’s color palette is so vibrant I felt guilty not adding it. If you’ve never read ORC STAIN or seen Stokoe’s art work before, I highly recommend you seek it out. Like KING CITY and FLUORESCENT BLACK, I think it’s one of the most unique things to come out of comics in the last ten years.
